About Marci Levine

Dr. Marci Levine is a graduate of both the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School, where she received both her dental and medical degrees.  She then completed a six year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.  Recently, Dr. Levine finished her fellowship in Orthognathic Surgery and corrective Jaw Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital.  Dr. Levine has been published in both the areas of Implantology and Orthognathic Surgery.  Dr. Levine is an Attending on staff at Lenox Hill Hospital, and has a clinical appointment at the New York University College of Dentistry.  In our office, as well as at the hospital, she is responsible for following a scientifically based protocol designed to provide the ultimate care and attention to medically compromised patients.

A project using the Simplant Imaging Tool to describe the anatomic location of the inferior alveolar nerve in the mandible with respect to the first molar and determine if there are predictive variables as to the location of the nerve (1/03-present).  This research abstract was presented at the 85th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Orlando, FL, 9/03.  The manuscript has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

A pilot study that explored the identification and localization of nerve growth factor in the rat femoral vein (8/99-9/00).  This paper was presented in part at the 82nd Annual Meeting of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, San Francisco, CA, 9/00 and was published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 7/02.

This was a project supported by the Laboratory for the Study of Skeletal Disorders and Rehabilitation in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School and The Children’s Hospital, Boston, that included the development of ELISA analysis for quantification of bone sialoprotein, osteometrin, and osteopontin, and its use to measure these proteins in osteoporosis and x-linked hypophosphatemia.
